With a wonderful year round climate, world class accommodation, family-friendly facilities and great golf courses, it is no wonder that Tenerife is the most popular holiday destinations of the Canary Islands.

Image Gallery Tenerife © Tenerife Tourism Bureau Tenerife offers a real variety of holiday choices with beach resorts in the drier south to the more traditional destinations in the lush north. Many holidaymakers will be attracted by the lively long golden beaches of the popular resorts, while others will be lured by the appeal of "off the beaten track" areas, just waiting to be discovered.

Eating & Drinking

Los Cristianos offers a good selection of restaurants with varied local and international fare although they tend to be mainly budget eateries with very few fine-dining options. Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje also offer a great number of bars and restaurants with a good choice of fresh seafood, tapas and local specialities.

Nightlife: disco, bars and karaoke in local area; more within a 1/2 hour walk.

Entertainment

Water sports of every possible kind are on offer here, from swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling to a submarine trip, windsurfing or jet skiing. There are also trips to spot whales and dolphins at play, not far from the coast as well as the lively "booze cruises".

Families will enjoy the Aqua Park which boasts a dolphin show, children's area and an assortment of water rides, slides and pools, whilst back on dry land mountain bikes, mopeds, scooters and quad bikes are all on offer.

Golfers are also well catered for with numerous courses, including ones at Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, whilst shopaholics should head to the capital Santa Cruz where many a duty free bargain can be found, as well as offering some of the best sightseeing on the island.

The surrounding area

The resort of Loro Parque is a real hidden treasure, boasting a truly magical animal park which houses everything from gorillas to penguins and orca whales. Mount Teide (El Pico), the 12,402 ft volcanic mountain that dominates the island is also well worth a visit. For the energetic the summit can be approached on foot in around three hours in the right conditions, but for the less energetic it can be reached in about eight minutes by cable car.

Holidaymakers can also book a ferry to the nearby tranquil isle of Gomera. It is here that you will find the Valley of the Great King, located on the west side of the island, which offers fantastic vistas of the sea and lush plantations and is a great place to get away from it all.
